Keiki

To propagate an orchid, one way is to cut the spike down to the first node (that was not a flower node). With light the new branch will form another flower spike, but without light a stressed orchid will reproduce, making a "baby orchid" or Keiki. Eventually this new orchid will produce roots and can be removed from the mother plant. I am so excited as this is the first time I've tried this, and I was successful. The keiki will be a replica of the mother plant.
